Pooya Bahmanikia, M.Psy. is a compassionate Registered Psychotherapist dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and mental health concerns. He holds a Master of Psychology (M.Psy.) in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from Adler Professional Graduate School. He also earned a Bachelor of Honours in Psychology with Highest Distinction from York University, reflecting his strong academic commitment to the field of mental health.

Pooya further strengthened his clinical training by completing a Certificate in Multi-Modality Psychotherapy at Adler Professional Graduate School. His training includes specialization in Trauma-Informed Care, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition, he completed three levels of Adlerian Therapy training at the Piaget Institute in Toronto, where he studied topics such as Adlerian psychology and psychotherapy, early recollections, democratic parenting, Adlerian child and adolescent psychopathology, Adlerian couple therapy, and lifestyle analysis and assessment.

With a diverse professional background, Pooya has provided therapeutic support in a variety of clinical and community settings. He strives to create a compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring their personal experiences and challenges.

Pooya’s therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. He tailors his approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, helping clients address concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

In his work with trauma survivors, Pooya prioritizes creating a safe and supportive therapeutic space where individuals can process past experiences, develop resilience, and move toward healing. Through trauma-informed practices, he supports clients in rebuilding a sense of empowerment and emotional stability.
